Voice over IP

It’s all in the network

In the old days, a direct connection was made via copper wire between 2 phones. Then came digital dialing and calling, and today, voice goes over the accepted network standard, TCPIP. It’s cheaper to connect, requires less wire in the walls, and makes many aspects of phone management easier.

Have It Hosted

There are basically 2 models of VOIP. One is a HOSTED sollution, where are your PABX functions such as Voicemail, Auto attendants, Ring groups, and Call forwarding are configured and run elsewhere, through the internet  Service on this model can vary from mediocre to good, to bad. Most companies want a contract to provide such a service, so one can get tied down into a situation where It is difficult to change vendors if there service level decreases.

Own it.

The other is to own your own PABX equipment LOCALLY and the only thing provided through the internet is a “Sip Trunk” , which means “phone number”. Dataguys specialises in the second model for the following reasons: Tech support is local (It’s us) Customisation is full-featured, and not “pay per feature” There is less chance of “Vendoritis” (a Sitiuation where two companies blame each other for a problem, and resolution becomes very difficult) Clients can customize their own systems if they want.
